What is Aerthonnta?

Aerthonnta is a service for those broadcasting in Irish on radio stations throughout Ireland, also providing information for the whole Irish language community about the programmes available to them in their own localities. As part of the service, Aerthonnta will provide weekly updates about events, broadcasting-related news and the main stories affecting the Irish language community. There will be an emphasis on publicising Irish-language programmes being broadcast across the country; on commercial, local, national and community stations.

The Aerthonnta service is one that was provided by Cogar until 2014. In conjunction with Comhdháil Náisiúnta na Gaeilge and with support from the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, Raidió na Life agreed to relaunch the service as a digital platform for news stories and as an information resource for those broadcasting in Irish across the country.
